Koh Tao Beaches
Mae Haad
All boats arrive here. Naturally highly developed, but still managed to keep some of its old fishing village charm. Money exchange, post office, government office & health center are in Mae Haad. Most dive centers have an office here, lots of travel agents, supermarkets, bike rentals, restaurants and party venues.

Sairee Beach
Sairee's white sandy beach stretches about 1.7km over most of the west coast, interrupted only by a few huge boulders. Mae Haad is only a 10 min walk away. Being the most popular area on Tao, Sairee offers a huge range of accommodation, dive centers, restaurants, shops, beach bars, travel & email services, nurseries, etc.

South-west coast, best reached by foot or long tail, two simple, small resorts, a real getaway.

South-west coast, taxi boat recommended, one resort, simple huts & solid bungalows. Can't get it more private.

Tanote Bay
Well preserved bay away from the crowds with excellent snorkeling. Tanote Bay is located south of Laem Thian in a protected bay, superb for snorkelers. The reef slopes from around 2 meters below sea level to around 18 meters.

Hin Wong Bay
North-east coast, abundant coral reefs in a natural pool, four small hillside resorts and one diving school.

Ao Leuk
Ao Leuk is a beautiful big bay located on the way to Tanote bay, you can experience real solitude and serenity, which is perfect for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. There are wonderful fringing reefs on either side of the bay with amazing fish life, such as Butterfly fish, Monacle Breams, Nudibranchs, Jenkins Rays, Saddleback Clown fish, and even the occasional Lion fish.

Sai Daeng Beach
With only two resorts nestled into an idyllic landscape & a sandy beach, it's not only famous for its beauty similar to Ao Leuk, but also for being closest to one of Tao's prime dive & snorkel sites: Shark Island.

Thian Og Bay (Rocky Bay)
Located in eastern coast of koh Tao between Tanote bay and Hin Wong bay. The sea water is absolutely clear and the beach is lined with coconut palms. It's a short beach with only 300 meters long but it's a diving that has very beautiful coral reefs of Koh Tao. It's peaceful and pleasurable.

Chalok Baan Kao
Third largest beach, located on the southern coast facing Phangan and Samui. This bay is smaller than Sairee, but offers a similar range of accommodation, eateries and nightlife. It is beautifully framed by Taa Toh lagoon to the east and Saan Jao beach to the west.

Jansom Bay
Private bay (visitors welcome for a nominal fee) with an exclusive, beautiful up-market resort and a budget bungalow. Only a 10 min walk from Mae Haad Bay. Jansom Bay is a small protected cove offering it's visitors a great place to relax and snorkel. It's especially good for kids because there is no currents and the water is clear and quite shallow. There is a wealth of marine life including many colorful reef fish. There is also a good chance of spotting a Green Sea Turtle. This bay is a little treasure. It's a privately owned beach so expect to be charged a small entrance fee.
Mango Bay
Mango Bay is located with a magnificent view of what is probably Koh Tao's most beautiful bay. The only bay in the North and can be reached by a car or motobike or easy way to go by longtail boat. Little beach and excellent underwater sights. Mango Bay is also one of the most beautiful places to snorkel and scuba dive on Koh Tao.
